June 5 is World Environment Day, a significant date for the Col·legi d’Aparelladors, Arquitectes Tècnics i Enginyers d’Edificació de Barcelona (CAATEEB) to dedicate the fourth EBS Day of 2021 to sustainability and, in specifically, how the digitization of the AECO sector can contribute to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN). The session, which will take place on June 3, starting at 6 p.m., at Roca Barcelona Gallery, can be followed in streaming through Zoom, with free registration.
The construction sector has not been characterized so far by minimizing the effects of its activity on the environment, but the rise of digitization and the implementation of the economic recovery funds of the European Union, through the Next Generation EU and Renovation Wave programs are an opportunity to change the trend.
The BIM finally allows to transform the plans into data, which generates a different way of working, with economic, temporal and energy valuation of each proposal. The software incorporates the data and relates it throughout the life cycle of the building, and the application of intelligence in projects and construction helps a more coherent decision making and with less environmental impact.
Sustainability is not an option, but a necessity. It is no longer about talking about the world of construction, but about construction in a new way.
We will talk about this in a new EBS Day, which will open the Project Leader of the European BIM Summit and the BIM Leader of CAATEEB, Rafael Capdevila, and will feature the following presentations:
- “Sustainability and BIM”, by Bruno Sauer, from the Green Building Council Spain.
- “The role of materials in achieving sustainable construction”, by Albert Berenguel, from Master Builders Solutions.
- “Optimization taking into account the sustainable impacts of BIM”, by Antoni Fonseca, from Polyhedra Tech.
The round table “BIM development around sustainability”, moderated by Sergio Muñoz, general secretary of buildingSMART Spain, will close the day.
Sustainability will also be one of the topics that the European BIM Summit 2021 will deal with, which will take place on October 22 in face-to-face and online format. You can register now and take advantage of the available discounts.
