CAATEEB organizes a new session of the European BIM Summit Day in which we shall discover what the Lean methodology proposes to improve the productivity of the constructive process and the relationship with the BIM.
The concept of Lean Management, associated with the concept of Lean Manufacturing, is well known n any industrial sector, in which productivity and efficiency are fundamental keys. In fact, if a company’s objective is to be more efficient and to obtain better profits by eliminating obsolete practices of ordering, planning and execution, it opts quickly to introduce the Lean philosophy into the way it works. On the other hand, to transfer concepts like Just In Time (JIT) or Last Planner System (LPS) to the construction sector seems unthinkable. But is not.
Many automotive companies, renowned for their efficiency, take this philosophy created by Toyota (which has a housing construction division in Japan) by reclassifying its activities between those that add value, those that do not contribute to it and those that are simply fruitless. In such manner they increase flexibility and adaptability in their supply chain.
In terms of the construction sector, the activities would be the agents involved in the life cycle of a construction. In this session we will find out which are the keys needed to make the change to build even better. Lean Construction helps eliminate all types of waste, the wasting of time, materials and resources.
