Keynote speaker – Evolution and Future challenges for IFC Interoperability
In this session, the audience will have the chance to learn about the creation and development of IFC protocols by its own founder, Mr. Thomas Liebich. One critical issue in BIM Use is the ability to exchange information and to be able to use easily what has been exchanged. That makes “Interoperability” a key factor for the BIM process.
“The open BIM Standard IFC has been developed and continuously enhanced over the last 20 years and has become the most used open format for interoperability when using Building Information Modeling. It supports many, but not all, data exchange scenarios along the life cycle of construction projects. The presentation will highlight the main steps of its evolution and prospects for the near future including IFC for Infrastructure and will conclude with the upcoming challenges coming from a changing technology paradigm towards more cloud-based working.”
