Tomi Henttinen is a senior partner in Gravicon Oy and currently he works as Director of R&D and BIM. Gravicon provides everything in BIM from modelling to BIM project management. Gravicon has also developed a project management software called Modelspace – a web based tool to support Clients in tendering, supervision and maintenance of BIM in construction and infrastructure projects (www.modelspacecloud.com).
At the turn of the century Tomi Henttinen was one of the pioneers of BIM in Finland. Since 2002 he was worked with IFC data exchange in real life projects. His BIM related tasks have covered everything from architectural design to BIM project management as well as software development.
The knowledge of BIM in Finland has grown significantly during the past 15 years and Tomi Henttinen has been one the leaders in this development. The BIM execution in projects like Helsinki Music Centre, Performing Arts Centre Kilden in Kristiansand Norway, renovation of the Finnish National Opera, Renovation of the Helsinki Olympic Stadium, Helsinki Central Library etc. have been or are at the moment coordinated by Tomi Henttinen and his consulting team. Together with his team Tomi has been involved with more than 60 real-life projects utilizing open BIM and IFC. From the early pilots to current projects, the mission has been to make BIM more accessible to all parties and to create benefits for all of them.
Since 2009 Tomi Henttinen has been the Chairman of buildingSMART Finland and member of the Board in buildingSMART Nordic. In 2014 the Building Information Foundation RTS granted Tomi the Golden Order of Merit for his efforts in turning buildingSMART Finland into home of BIM in Finland.
