rob Rob Garvey

Rob is a Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow at the University of Westminster teaching on the undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Department of Property and Construction. Rob is responsible for the Faculty’s MSc in Building Information Management as well as ensuring that BIM is embedded within the Faculty’s curriculum. He is working towards a doctorate investigating the influence of government policy in the adoption of BIM.

Rob is Chair of the London BIM Region and Core Team Member of BIM4SME. In addition, he is also part of the UK Government Trial Projects Working Group for procurement.

Prior to becoming an academic, Rob spent more than 20 year in industry, working with the likes of Mace on projects such as Terminal 5. As a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Rob specialises in all commercial aspects of both project and organisational management. 

Rob was honoured in last year’s CIOB Innovation in Training and Education Awards for an Integrated BIM project that involved industry, the university’s estates team and students from all departments within the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment.
