Barcelona, 10th November 2015. – The Barcelona Quantity Surveyors, Technical Architects and Building Engineers’ Association – CAATEEB (Col·legi d’Aparelladors, arquitectes tècnics i enginyers d’edificació de Barcelona) has signed an agreement with Roca, according to which the brand, global reference in bathroom spaces equipment, will sponsor for the second running year the European BIM Summit (EBS) that will take place in Barcelona on 18th & 19th February 2016. During the event, the most interesting experiences and the latest advances within this new work method, based on managing the information generated throughout the lifecycle of a construction project, will be presented.
Roca as a multinational has become a pioneer in incorporating the use of BIM in their work processes. Organized by The Barcelona Quantity Surveyors, Technical Architects and Building Engineers’ Association – CAATEEB (Col·legi d’Aparelladors, arquitectes tècnics i enginyers d’edificació de Barcelona) together with the BIM Academy®. and buildingSMART Spanish Chapter, the summit will gather relevant professionals from the construction industry. The second edition of the European BIM Summit will offer an international and multidisciplinary program to show, obtain, share and generate knowledge through sessions, case studies, networking and workshops.
Jordi Gosalves, chairman of the CAATEEB, pointed out the growing importance of the BIM methodology in the building world, “a work method spreading rapidly as an essential requirement to pursue new tenders in Europe”, “Since its early stages, Roca has proactively supported the BIM Project, hosting all kind of activities and collaborations at the Roca Galleries with the purpose of divulgating and promoting this tool. We are fully committed with the system and have already developed a part of our product catalogue in a BIM format.” says Xavier Torras, Corporate Brand Communication Director at Roca.
This new system of the construction process means a revolution in the way both new construction and existing buildings designs are conceived. The concept covers from monitoring and managing the information generated throughout the lifecycle of a construction project, the design phase and taking decisions, to construction maintenance phase once it is up and running. A method worth knowing and dominating as a process aimed at improving quality, efficiency and effectiveness in any project, edification or civil work.
In its first edition in 2015, over 500 participants attended the European BIM Summit. It focused, with great success, on divulgating the multiple benefits it implies for all parties involved in the construction process. The Summit also favoured the committment (BIM Mandate in Spain) of various administrations to encourage the use of a methodology that may turn a key factor in the Spanish construction industry in the future.
